Seven Taraba kidnap victims freed as troops disrupt criminal hideouts

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued seven kidnapped victims along Chinkai-Kente-Wukari road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

A statement by the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad disclosed that the victims were abducted on the 3rd of August 2025.

It says the troops encountered the kidnappers during operations forcing them to flee abandoning their victims, due to sustained pressure.

The statement says four of the victims were found unharmed in Chinkai Forest on August 5.

The other three female victims were rescued on August 6 in Owedi Community, Wukari Local Government Area.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their dedication.

He noted that the operation is a major success in the fight against criminality.

Chidiebere reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to sustain aggressive operations to curb kidnapping and safeguard lives and property across the state.
