About 400 Youths selected from 16 Northern States and Federal Capital Territory are undergoing a week-long leadership and transformative training.
The goal is to make them to become useful citizens to society.
The Workshop tagged: Rotary Youth Leadership Academy RYLA 2025, focuses on tripartite objectives – Passion, Action and Reaction.
The annual event organized by put together by Rotary International District 9127 also aims at imparting the necessary skills and knowledge in younger ones to responsibly hold leadership positions.
Addressing participants, the District Governor, Dr. Joy Nky-Okoro emphasized the need to instill culture of patriotism, discipline and hard work in the youth for them to contribute their quotas to national development.
“RYLA is an annual event that primarily aimed building leadership skills on the selected young people for them to achieve their aspirations in life and impart on others positively”. Dr Nky-Okoro explained.
Dr Othman Abdulrasheed in a speech, tasked participants on purposeful living with passion for them to achieve their dreams, irrespective of the current situation in the country.
Attitudinal change necessary
Baba Bala of Rotary Club of Abuja Jabi Lakeside also advised the Youth on attitudinal change towards skill acquisitions for wealth creation, through Passion development.
“Aside from your study, works or whatever thing you might be doing right now, identify other dream and follow it with passion”. he said.
The Chairman, organizing Committee RYLA 2025, Rotarian Jumoke Ekeinde said the annual leadership training had over the years provided greater opportunities even beyond Nigeria.
District Governor-elect, Sikiru Owonikoko urged the participants to make judicious use of opportunities of the training and extend to others in line with Rotary vision of service to humanity.
Some of the participants expressed appreciation to Rotary 9127 for the opportunities given to them and promised to impart on others.
