Labour Party governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu has extended heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), following brutal killing of her only son, Martin Onyekesi.
Moghalu, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Onyebuchi Okoye, condemned the murder as “cruel, senseless, and deeply heartbreaking.”
He described the loss as not just a personal tragedy for the Onyekesi family but reflection of how dangerously insecure the state capital has become.
Moghalu also criticized the Soludo-led administration for its continued silence in the face of mounting tragedies.
He recalled the recent accident in Amichi, Nnewi South LGA, where a tipper truck killed over ten people.
Moghalu regretted that incident also drew no official response or visit from the state government.
“While families are left to bury their dead in pain, the government is preoccupied with renaming streets and staging political endorsement rallies. This is not leadership,” he said.
Humanity above party affiliations
The LP flagbearer urged Ndi Anambra to put humanity above party lines.
“This is not about political affiliation. It is about human life. We must have empathy. We must protect our people.”
While calling for sober reflection, Moghalu said, “The future of Anambra must not be built on fanfare and indifference.
“It must rest on compassion, courage, and leadership that listens and responds to the people’s cry.”
Martin, a vibrant young fish farmer in his 20s, was abducted from their family home in Awka on Sunday evening.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased was shot in the leg before being taken away by gunmen.
Despite a ransom payment, his lifeless body was later recovered — a tragedy that has reignited public outcry over deepening insecurity in Anambra State.
