A member of the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Sierra Leone, and Chief Executive Officer of Yennco World Trade Limited, Dr. Onyeka Nwafor, has called on Nigerian businesses, manufacturers, exporters, and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the maiden Nigeria-Sierra Leone Trade Fair 2026 to expand their market reach and strengthen regional trade partnerships.

The trade fair is scheduled to hold from July 27 to August 9, 2026, at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and is expected to serve as a major platform for deepening economic and commercial relations between Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Nwafor said the fair is designed to promote Made-in-Nigeria products, enhance market access for Nigerian enterprises, and create new opportunities for trade and investment across West Africa.

He noted that the current trade volume between Nigeria and Sierra Leone is estimated at about $5 million, with Nigerian exports accounting for approximately $2.96 million.

While describing the figure as modest, he said it reflects a growing economic relationship with significant prospects for expansion.

Potential benefits

According to him, participants at the trade fair will benefit from exposure to a broad audience of consumers and investors, networking opportunities with key industry players, extensive media visibility, product launch platforms, business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking sessions, and certification of participation.

Dr. Nwafor explained that the event would provide a strategic avenue for fostering cross-border commerce, attracting investments, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two West African nations.

He therefore encouraged government agencies, manufacturers, exporters, small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), investors, and business owners to showcase their products and services at the exhibition, build strategic partnerships, and explore emerging opportunities in the Sierra Leonean and regional markets.

The Nigeria-Sierra Leone Trade Fair is expected to attract exhibitors and stakeholders from diverse sectors of the economy, further boosting bilateral trade relations and advancing regional economic integration.
