Anambra State government has commiserated with families of four persons that lost their lives in deadly attack on the convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Governor on Sunday night, May 31, 2026 by gunmen.
Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr Law Mefor in a statement on Tuesday condemned the ugly incident, describing it as attack on the peace, security and democratic order of the state, that of government and people of the state.
He assured efforts by police and other security agencies to find and bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.
According to him, the isolated incident would not affect government’s determination to remove all forms of crime from Anambra.
The statement reads in part, “Anambra State government is shocked by the attack on the convoy of the chief of staff to the governor on Sunday night, May 31st, 2026, between 8:00pm and 9:00 pm at the Orumba North–Awka South borders, while returning from an official assignment.
“This was more than an attack on one person. It was an attack on the peace, security, and democratic order of our state, as well as the Government and people of Anambra.
“Sadly, four people lost their lives and deserve justice.
“The Anambra State Government sends its deepest condolences to the families of those who died and share in their grief.
“The police and other security agencies are working to find and to bring everyone involved in this evil act to justice.
“This isolated incident after more than one year of peace and security in the state will not affect our determination to remove all forms of crime from Anambra.
