President Bola Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary across key council areas of Anambra State monitored on Saturday.
A similar outcome was recorded in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primary election in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, where Chief Dozie Nwankwo defeated Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe in a landslide victory to clinch the party’s ticket.
APC stakeholders in the state had earlier held a strategic meeting chaired by Senator Uche Ekwunife, who oversees the party’s presidential election activities in Anambra State.
Following the meeting, party members proceeded to their respective wards to participate in the presidential primary election.
Addressing party faithful, Ekwunife urged members to demonstrate that Anambra remains a stronghold of the APC through massive participation and support for the party.
Also speaking, Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, a top aide to the Senate President and member of the South East Development Commission, charged party members to vote overwhelmingly for President Tinubu and other APC candidates.
According to reports from the monitored areas, wards in Awka, Ogidi, Ideani, Abatete, Njikoka, and Enugwu-Ukwu delivered overwhelming support for Tinubu, who defeated Chief Osifo in the exercise.
In the APGA senatorial primary, Chief Dozie Nwankwo also secured decisive victories across the same areas, comfortably defeating Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe.
Political observers believe Nwankwo’s strong performance in the primary positions him as a formidable contender ahead of the main election.
