Military sets up Court Martial for 36 personnel over alleged mutiny

The Defence Headquarters has inaugurated a General Court Martial to prosecute 36 serving military personnel accused of breaching national security.

The personnel are facing allegations of mutiny, including claims of involvement in actions aimed at undermining constituted authority and attempting to overthrow the government.

In a statement, the Director of Defence Information, Samaila Uba, described the move as a decisive step toward strengthening discipline, accountability, and the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding national integrity.

The Defence Headquarters assured that the trial will be conducted with strict adherence to due process, fairness, and impartiality.

It added that all proceedings would follow established legal frameworks to ensure justice is delivered without bias, while fully respecting the rights of the accused personnel.
