Agunechemba to create special unit to monitor extortion, illegal activities

Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi has reassured renewed determination of the state security outfit, Agunaechemba to tackle all forms of criminality in the state.

Emeakayi gave the assurance while addressing over 300 Commanders and personnel of the security outfit in Awka.

He said a special unit is being formed, comprising mostly civilians, to monitor activities of his personnel against any form of extortion and illegal conduct.

The SA stressed that indiscipline would not be tolerated going forward, just as he revealed the creation of different units within the security outfit to ensure dominance and zero tolerance for crime and criminality.

While congratulating the Governor on his successful second-term inauguration, Emeakayi, recently reappointed by the Governor, described Soludo’s second term as renewed call for security dominance and decisive tackling of crimes and criminality in the state.

“We are here to tell you all that this is a new beginning in our activities; we are assuring Ndi Anambra that things will get better.

“We apologize in any way we might have erred, we are determined to improve.

Mr. Governor is taking security to a new level, as we are now going to be proactive rather than reactive,” he said.

Better equipped outfit

Emeakayi further hinted that more and better equipment were being provided to enhance operations, including additional drones, cameras and communication gear.

“Government is also focusing on improving welfare to ensure that personnel are better motivated to carry out their duties effectively,” he added.
