President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed top security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and take charge of the security situation following recent deadly terror attacks in Maiduguri.
The President, who expressed deep sorrow over the incidents, said he mourns those killed and sympathises with the injured, while standing in solidarity with the people of Borno State during what he described as a difficult period.
Tinubu described the attacks as desperate attempts by terrorists seeking to spread fear.
He insisted that such actions reflect mounting pressure on them from Nigerian troops and security agencies across various operational fronts.
He reassured Nigerians that the government would intensify efforts to eliminate criminal elements wherever they operate, stressing that there would be no safe haven for terrorists in the country.
The President commended the military for its bravery in repelling coordinated assaults on its positions, noting that the attackers were driven by desperation.
He added that both military forces and civilian task groups remain committed to neutralising the threat.
Tinubu also disclosed that he recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies during a high-level meeting with intelligence and security leaders, with implementation already underway.
Beyond the directive for security chiefs to relocate, the President instructed emergency response agencies to ensure proper medical care for those injured in the attacks.
Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, Tinubu said Nigeria would not bow to fear, vowing that terrorists would be tracked, confronted, and ultimately defeated. Top of Form
