Mrs Soludo hails workforce, describes them as backbone of national progress

Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has paid glowing tribute to Nigerian workers.

She described them as the backbone of national development and urging stronger commitment to their welfare.

In her May Day message on Friday in Awka, Soludo commended workers across various sectors for their dedication and sacrifice.

She noted  that their contributions remain the foundation upon which society is built.

“To every hand that has ever held a tool, carried a load, typed through the night, swept a floor, nursed a patient, taught a child, or built something greater than themselves, today belongs to you,” she said.

Soludo stressed that labour remains central to the growth of any society.

She added that workers often remain the unseen force behind infrastructure, education, agriculture and institutions that drive national progress.

“Behind every road, every school, every harvest, every institution, stands the tireless dignity of the Nigerian worker. You are not invisible.

“You are the backbone of our progress, and your sacrifices deserve to be honoured and celebrated, not just today, but every day,” she said.

Call for Commitment

Soludo called for renewed commitment from government, employers and citizens to improve the protection, respect and remuneration of workers.

“As we enter a new month, let May carry fresh momentum; a renewal of commitment from government, employers and citizens alike.

“To ensure that those who work are protected, respected, and rewarded,” she added.

She also extended appreciation to workers in Anambra and across Nigeria.

“They are the true heroes of society, while wishing them a Happy May Day and a prosperous new month,” she said.
