Head teacher of Woliwo Primary School II, in Onitsha South LGA of Anambra, Mrs Francisca Odiegwu has described as divine the school’s outstanding performance at the just concluded 2025 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards.
The school bagged the award of the best school in Nigeria and was presented with a 16-seater bus, among other prizes.
Odiegwu who spoke to newsmen in Onitsha, also attributed the feat to the introduction of certain innovations.
According to her, the changing of school’s uniform, renovation, painting of the school and skill acquisition training programme contributed to the feat.
“A good teacher is one who possesses a blend of personal qualities, professional skills and ethical values that create a positive, effective learning environment.
“Emerging the best school in Nigeria was divinely made. God rewarded the hard work of the teachers in the course of their profession.
“Besides, I introduced some innovations to the school.
“We changed the school uniform of pupils, renovated classrooms and painted the school.
“We also attracted government’s aids such as donation of studying equipment.
“The equipment boosted the level of the school and ensured pupils have a conducive learning environment.
“One other main reason which made the school stand out was the skill acquisition training we introduced.
“We taught our pupils skills like production of slippers, shoes, soaps, disinfectants and computer training.
The headteacher however, commended Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in raising the standard of education in the state.
“Mr Governor huge investment in the education sector uplifted education to the highest standards in the state.
“Apart from recruitment of qualified teachers, the government has equipped schools with items like chairs, lockers, white boards, teaching materials among others,” she added.
Odiegwu however advised teachers to always be diligent and disciplined while carrying out their duties.
