President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to distribute rice across all states of the federation to support Nigerians observing the ongoing Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The directive is aimed at providing relief to citizens during the fasting period while promoting unity among religious communities across the country.
In a statement, the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to compassion and national solidarity during a period of deep spiritual significance for both Muslims and Christians.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through their nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across Nigeria benefit from the intervention during the holy season when adherents of both faiths are observing fasting and prayer.
Uzodimma noted that the programme is part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to support citizens during major religious and cultural periods.
He recalled that a similar intervention was carried out during the last Christmas celebration when rice was distributed to assist Nigerians marking the festive season.
The governor said the current initiative would benefit both Christian and Muslim communities, reflecting the President’s commitment to inclusivity, shared values and national unity.
Uzodimma emphasised that the distribution exercise would be carried out through the state, local government and ward structures of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to ensure transparency and wide reach across the country.
According to him, the programme underscores President Tinubu’s belief in supporting citizens during the fasting season while strengthening interfaith harmony in Nigeria.
