President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of Pope Francis, describing him as a humble servant of God, a tireless advocate for the poor and a beacon of hope and justice.

Tinubu said the Pope’s death—coming soon after Easter—symbolizes a sacred return to his Maker.
He praised Pope Francis for his 2013 call to global compassion, urging support for the marginalized, refugees, and migrants.
“The Pope challenged the powerful to act justly and protect the Earth for future generations.
“The late Pontiff was a true instrument of peace who bridged divides between faiths and stood firmly with the developing world.
“He spoke against economic injustice and prayed for global peace,” he said.
Recalling his Easter message, Tinubu expressed sorrow that the Pope passed a day after appearing to deliver the traditional Easter blessing.
He described the loss as the departure of “the world’s most trenchant voice for justice and climate action.
“He urged the faithful to honour the Pope’s legacy through action—lifting others, healing communities, and upholding human dignity.
“May God Almighty grant His beloved servant eternal rest,” Tinubu concluded.
