Anambra Govt Takes Over Community School

New school handed over to government

Anambra state government has officially taken over Ebenese Nursery and Primary School in Oko, Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The community formally handed the school over to the Government in a ceremony that marked new chapter for education in the area.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh described the school’s establishment addressed pressing need in the community.

She commended the community for embracing the state’s Public-Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative.

She said the initiative will help to bring quality education closer to every child.

She assured deployment of qualified teachers to the school ahead of next academic session for smooth and effective take-off.

“Your decision ensures that no child in this locality is left behind due to distance.

“With this school now integrated into the public system, children here will have easy access to education.

“This aligns with state’s mission to reach even the most remote areas,” she added.

Acting National President, Oko People’s Union (OPU) Nze Casmir Nwafor, said the establishment of the school was to bring education close to the children.

“They have been trekking long distances to attend the only existing public school in the area,” he said.

Nwafor urged government to post teachers and provide necessary resources under the PPCP model to enhance learning environment.

He also pledged the community’s commitment to maintain the facility and ensure teachers had suitable accommodation.

The event witnessed handover of the school’s documents to state government.

It also featured donation of writing materials provided by Governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, and Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to the School.

Among dignitaries present at the event were Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu and Director of Schools, Mrs. Ifeoma Onyebueke.

Also present were Secretary, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Nneora Ebele Mgbaemena and other senior officials.
