Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has urged Team Anambra to aim for the top spot at the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Soludo gave the charge while addressing the athletes at their training camp on Thursday morning in Awka.
The athletes were preparing to depart for Asaba, for the games.
She commended their consistent achievements and expressed confidence in their ability to make the state proud once again.
“With the looks on your faces, I can tell you are ready for the games.
“You have been making Anambra proud since the inception of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
“In 2023, you came home with 22 medals, in 2024, you emerged 8th position with 26 medals including 9 gold medals.
“So now, we are rooting for you and praying you emerge first position because Anambra is always number one.
“We trust and knows what you can do and we are waiting for the medals. I wish you the best of luck,” she said.
No fewer than 6,382 athletes and officials are expected to attend the 9th edition of the National Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Asaba from Aug. 29 to Sept. 6.
The games is organised by the National Sports Commission to promote grassroots competition and discover young sporting talents
