Gov. Charles Soludo announced that the road to Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, has been named after former Gov. Willie Obiano.
During the inauguration, Soludo said naming the road “Willie Obiano Boulevard” is to honour his predecessor and his contributions to the development of the state
He emphasized that the gesture symbolizes unity, continuity and respect for those who contributed to Anambra’s development.
“I do not thank me for doing what I applied for and for improving what has already been done.
“The philosophy remains— one state, one people, one agenda. No one should be left behind,” he said
He stated that the state is one constituency; therefore, everyone and every area must be carried along.
The governor explained that his administration’s inclusive developmental model aims to bring every region at par on terms of development.
“We recognized that the North which is the largest region in terms of land mass, lacks heavily in infrastructure.
“That is the reason I started work there, particularly in Okpoko.
“A few weeks ago, we returned to Okpoko to commission what we have done—projects that give people life.
“The same applies to Olumbanasa, where no governor had ever visited in the history of Anambra State.
“Now, we are opening up that axis with planned connection roads to Eziagulu-Otu, Mkpumnando, and others,” he added.
Deputy Gov. Onyekachukwu Ibezim; and the Speaker, House of Assembly, Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, were present at the occasion.
Other dignitaries include the Majority Leader of the house, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme; and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Chinedu Nwoye, among others.
Great news
Yes, good to appreciate good efforts.
I commend him for this. Politicians should always honour those that were there before them and stand in their shoulders to achieve more.
Yes, Ugochi. It’s good to acknowledge the efforts of those who came before us. Thanks for your comments.
This is a great move by His Excellency. No condemnation and discrediting the efforts of predecessor
Thanks for feedback, Ezra.
