The World Boxing Federation (WBF) has officially approved a WBF World featherweight title boxing match to take place in Anambra State, Nigeria.

The highly anticipated event, dubbed the “Solution Bout,” will feature a showdown between Nigeria’s Taiwo Agbaje and French challenger, Thomas Mason.

The match billed for October 26, 2025 marks a significant milestone as it is the first of its kind to be staged in South East and Nigeria in general.

Prominent licensed boxing Promoter, Emma Emenogu, made the big announcement during a press briefing in Awka.

According to him, the bout is scheduled to unfold at the new Solution Fun City, a state-of-the-art facility built by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, highlighting the region’s progress in infrastructure development.

Emenogu is confident in Anambra’s readiness to host such a prestigious event.

He said the choice of Anambra for the fight is to expose the impressive infrastructural development under the current administration to the world.

The Boxing promoter emphasized the event’s potential to showcase the cultural richness and hospitality of the Southeast, countering negative perceptions about insecurity in the area.

Significant global attention

He stated that the “Solution Bout” will attract significant global attention, with an estimated 120 million viewers set to watch the event from home in the United States alone.

Emenogu stated that local businesses will equally profit greatly as thousands of fans flock the venue, creating opportunities for commerce and economic engagements within the state and country at large.

Emenogu, an indigene of Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area, was excited about bringing such a significant sporting event to home.

Apart from the main event, there would be series of preliminary fights on the same day, creating a full day of boxing entertainment for enthusiasts.

The Boxing Promoter said the “Solution Bout,” is not just a sporting occasion but a celebration of peace, unity, and the excellent spirit of Anambra.

The Project Cordinator for the WBF Title Boxing Fight, Odira Eze, said it will be the biggest World Boxer event in Nigeria and beyond.

According to him, it promises to also accommodate local boxers to showcase their raw talents to the universe.

Odira noted that the Nigeria Boxing Board Control (NBBC) also approved the event to take place in Anambra State.
