The candidate of the Action Alliance, (AA) in the November 8 Anambra State gubernatorial election, Ozo Jeff Nweke, says he is in the race to rescue the people from bad governance.
He regretted that successive governments in the state has mainly benefitted the political elitists at the expense of ordinary citizens who on daily basis struggle for survival.
At an event tagged “Meet Jeff”, Nweke, manager of many business outfits explained his “You First” campaign slogan.
He said, “It is not just a slogan. It is an expression of the type of governance I want to offer to the people of Anambra State.
“I know that the present governor is building roads. But the people need much more than that. They want governance to translate to better life for them.
“Under my watch as governor, it is “You First”. That is democracy – a government of the people.
“The people you elect into power cannot become your bosses as the case is in Nigeria and Anambra State today. The people are the givers of mandate and power lies with them.
“I’m going to give our people freedom that will propel to display their innate abilities and help grow the economy.
Don’t misuse your power
He called on the people not to misuse their power by voting for the wrong person.
“All of us that are vying for this position, we don’t have power. We are looking for power. I am saying that I am going to be candid.
“When you give me the power, I will use it to your advantage. I will solve the problem of hunger.
“With your fingers, you transfer your power to any of the candidates vying for the Governorship position of the state.
“With that power, you fix the economy, develop the education and health care systems. You fix the lingering insecurity for over ten years.
“The person you give your mandate will determine what you get going forward.
Ozo Nweke stressed the need for eligible citizens to rank the interest of the state above other considerations in choosing the next governor.
“These things are only possible if you all work together with the power of your fingers to elect a good governor.
I cannot do it alone. I need your support and solidarity. I need you to come around, get my back and push.
Awka should produce next governor
In a goodwill message, Comrade Chijioke Onyekonwu, Anambra South Senatorial Zone Bye-election, maintained that Awka the state capital has all it takes to produce the next Governor of Anambra State.
“It’s the turn of Awka to become the Governor. We have a candidate that is capable and able to deliver on people’s mandate. We will have a brand-new governor of Anambra State produced by AA.
A Community Leader from Ezinano-Awka, Ozo Akubuilo, submitted that, “Noone can do it better than Jeff Nweke.
“Jeff is a thoroughbred home boy. He’s been doing so much for Awka and that is why we asked him to come and become the Governor.
The Youth leader of Ezinano, Tochukwu Okoye, tasked supporters without voter’s cards to get theirs during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) commencing from July 8th.
“That’s your power to enthrone Jeff Nweke. I urge the youth, women and men to support the man who can take away their burden and wipe their tears away.
The representative of the Yoruba Community, Kehinde Alade, pledged support for Ozo Nweke whose name he noted rings bell in the community.
The Hause Community also pledged allegiance to the candidate of the Action Alliance through his representative, Hussein Sani.
“Ozo Nweke is reachable and accessible at any time. Any time we encounter problems in terms of insecurity, he always comes to our rescue.
“When we are fasting, he provides us food to break the fast. He does that for those of us in Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha.
“Our mosque at Amikwo was donated by his father. This project, Jeff Nweke is our own. Hausa community is with you.
For Joy Ngonadi, who spoke for Awka South Rural Women Association, the slogan “You First” is the reflection of Ozo Nweke’s good heart.
“He has gotten all he needs in life. He’s going to the Government House to make progress possible. We stand with Ozo Nweke.
Several other organizations such as Ihiala Support Group for Action Alliance and Ozor Jeff Nweke, Peace Youth Organization, Odinma Anambra for Action Alliance, among others also endorsed the candidacy of Ozo Jeff Nweke.
