Nigeria, Niger strengthen bilateral cooperation

Nigeria and Niger have signed a communiqué to revive and strengthen cooperation through the Nigeria-Niger Joint Commission (NNJC).

The agreement was signed by Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and Niger’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Bakary Sangaré, during Tuggar’s visit to Niamey.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties in security, the economy, and infrastructure.

They discussed regional and international issues, agreed to deepen collaboration against terrorism.

They also agreed to reviewe joint projects like the Kano-Maradi railway, Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, Highway and Fibre Optic initiatives.

The Ministers committed to expanding cooperation in socio-political, economic, scientific and cultural areas.

They proposed a Joint Consultative Forum for dialogue, and emphasized revitalizing the NNJC.
