Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has issued a warning against pollution of streams and rivers by native doctors engaging in ritual practices in the state.

Soludo, speaking to APGA supporters in Awka, urged residents to support efforts to rid Anambra of crime.

He warned against polluting rivers with ritual practices and highlighted the health risks.

He however, advised that such rituals be done using containers instead.

Addressing criticism over recent crackdowns on native doctors, Soludo clarified that the state targets only fraudulent practitioners, not genuine traditional worshipers.

He condemned deceptive native doctors who lure youths with false promises of instant wealth, warning that no ritual can replace hard work.

Citing cases of Anambra youths on death row abroad for drug offenses, he blamed native doctors who claim to make trafficked drugs undetectable.

Soludo called for a cultural shift towards instilling values of hard work, discipline, and integrity in the younger generation.

“We must take action to rescue our future by focusing on raising our children with strong values of hard work and discipline. “
