Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, has dismissed claims of ethnic bias in the 2025 UTME conducted by JAMB.

He called such allegations baseless and shortsighted.

Speaking at the Aguata Diocesan Synod in Ufuma, the Bishop said technical glitches affected candidates nationwide, not just in the Southeast.

He criticized the tendency to ethnicize national issues, urging Nigerians to adopt a more objective mindset.

“This wasn’t a Southeast issue but a national challenge. JAMB admitted to the glitches and is addressing them,” he stated.

Ikeakor also lamented the suicide of a female candidate over the exam outcome, attributing it to poor parenting, societal pressure, and systemic failure.

He emphasised that failure is a natural part of success and should not lead to such extreme actions.

“No setback is worth a life.

“We all share the blame—family, education system, and society. Life is full of challenges, and resilience defines success.”
