Los Angeles County has declared a Hepatitis A outbreak following a sharp rise in cases and increased virus levels in wastewater.

Since 2024, 165 cases have been reported—over three times the 2023 total. According to a release by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health,

Of the 29 cases confirmed in 2025, most involve individuals without typical risk factors like travel or unstable housing.

Though the public risk remains low, health officials urge preventive action to limit the spread.

Community-wide preventive measures to curb further transmission is necessary.
