Jim Ovia retires as Zenith Bank chairman after 12 years

Jim Ovia has retired as the chairman of Zenith Bank following the expiration of his tenure.

The bank disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that Ovia stepped down after completing the mandatory 12 years as a non-executive director and chairman.

It said the retirement was in compliance with the corporate governance guidelines issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Ovia, who founded Zenith Bank, is widely regarded as a key figure in Nigeria’s banking industry.

He led the institution through decades of growth and transformation into one of the country’s leading financial institutions.
