Nigeria felicitates Tunisia on Independence Anniversary, reaffirms stronger bilateral ties

The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Republic of Tunisia on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic relations between both countries.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended goodwill to his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, as Tunisia commemorates its independence attained in 1956.

Tuggar described the anniversary as a significant milestone, noting that it underscores Tunisia’s resilience and enduring dedication to sovereignty, national development, and democratic progress.

He emphasized the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Tunisia, built on shared values of African solidarity, mutual respect, and sustained engagement over the years.

According to the minister, both countries have continued to collaborate actively on multilateral platforms such as the African Union and the United Nations, working jointly to advance peace, stability, and sustainable development across the continent.

Tuggar also acknowledged Tunisia’s contributions to regional stability and economic growth in North Africa, while stressing the need to expand cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, education, tourism, and cultural exchange.

He noted that both nations stand to benefit from stronger economic collaboration and enhanced people-to-people connections.

Reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the partnership, the minister underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic dialogue and increased cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Federal Government further conveyed its best wishes to the government and people of Tunisia for continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
