120 indigent locals benefit from NYSC free healthcare in Anambra

About 120 indigent residents of Amichi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra state have benefited from the First Quarter 2026 Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the State.

The elderly, women, youths and children were among the beneficiaries of the outreach organized by the Scheme in collaboration with the hospital.

The outreach featured free medical consultations, distribution of drugs, and laboratory tests, including HIV and Hepatitis screenings, aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of rural dwellers.

Flagging off the programme, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua expressed appreciation to the Amichi community for providing the platform to positively impact lives through the HIRD initiative.

Responding, Chairman of Nnewi South LGA, Hon. Uche Ochuba, represented by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Anameme, commended the NYSC for bringing the free medical outreach to Amichi.

He noted that the initiative would significantly improve access to healthcare for residents across the local government area.

Also speaking, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Chukwudalu Orji, expressed satisfaction with the partnership between the NYSC and the hospital, stating that it was instrumental in the successful execution of the programme.

The Chairman’s representative also welcomed the State Coordinator and appreciated the NYSC for extending the laudable initiative to the people of the community.
