Soludo names NOCEN Provost as new ASUBEB boss

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has appointed Dr Justina Anyadiegwu as Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB).

This was contained in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, in Awka on Wednesday.

Soludo said Anyadiegwu, who is currently the Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, is expected to bring her wealth of experience.

According to him, experience in teaching, linguistics and administration should be applied to reposition basic education in the state.

He described the appointee as a seasoned English Language lecturer with over 30 years of teaching experience across primary, secondary and tertiary education levels.

According to him, Anyadiegwu holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Languages Arts/English from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

She also has a Master’s and Doctorate degrees in English Language and Literature from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

“An applied linguist, she specialises in active learning strategies and inclusive language education,” he said.

“The new ASUBEB chairman served as a consultant trainer for the British Council between 2012 and 2014 on Content and Language Integrated Learning  and the Teaching Knowledge Test.

“She is also a Master Trainer under the British Council’s Strengthening Teachers’ English Proficiency (STEP) programme.

“It was designed to improve classroom English among basic education teachers.

“Anyadiegwu has also consulted for teacher development programmes organised by the Universal Basic Education Commission in Anambra in 2012.

“There, she facilitated training in Oral English, phonics and phonemic awareness,” he said.

The Governor expressed confidence that the appointee would leverage her extensive experience to transform the universal basic education system in the state
