Wife of Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has expressed satisfaction with the performance of participants in the first batch of the “Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme,” describing the initiative as a catalyst for self-reliance and entrepreneurial growth among women.
Soludo made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Awka, where she noted that the five-week intensive training had equipped about 100 young women with practical and marketable skills.
The Governor’s Wife on March 13, inaugurated the Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme aimed at empowering 100 young women with practical and high-demand vocational skills.
The initiative, implemented under the Healthy Living Initiative, seeks to dismantle professional stereotypes and empower women with high-demand technical skills for economic independence.
According to Soludo, the programme has proven to be a “game changer,” bridging employment gaps, promoting innovation and enhancing women’s participation in the economy.
“It has been five weeks of intensive practical classes for the ‘Anambra Skilled Ladies Programme’. What thrills me most is the passion, dedication and meticulousness these women have demonstrated in every task.
“I am pleased with the progress recorded so far. Soon, these participants will graduate with the quality skills and experience that will transform their lives,” she said.
Soludo expressed optimism about the future of the beneficiaries, describing them as “real changemakers” capable of driving positive transformation in society.
She added that the training covered key technical areas such as solar and CCTV installation and repairs, air conditioning maintenance, tricycle (keke) repairs, carpentry and painting.
The governor’s wife reiterated her commitment to initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods in the state.
