Equitable Health for Women and Empowerment Initiative (EHWEI) has reiterated its commitment to eradicating underage forced sex work and child trafficking towards ensuring a safer and more just society for all.
Executive Director, Igwe Precious gave the assurance in a communique following resolutions from Stakeholders Roundtable Meeting on Ending Underage Forced Sex Work and Child Trafficking in Ebonyi State.
The EHWEI, with support from ISDAO, convened the multi-stakeholder meeting at its office to strengthen collaborative action towards ending underage forced sex work and child trafficking in Ebonyi State.
The meeting brought together key partners from NAPTIP, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Information, Development and Integrity Goal Foundation, and the National Human Rights Commission.
According to Igwe, EHWEI envisions a society free from stigma and discrimination, where women and girls have access to healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, and guaranteed rights.
The communique partly reads, “Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the sustainability of this project beyond the ISDAO funding cycle.
NAPTIP’s collaboration
“NAPTIP pledged ongoing collaboration, including joint program participation to attract further donor interest.
“Ministry of Women Affairs committed to immediate response and action on reported cases of child molestation and trafficking, leveraging EHWEI’s proximity to affected groups.
“Ministry of Information emphasized the importance of the initiative beyond funding and committed to partnership for sustained community sensitization.
“Development and Integrity Goal Foundation pledged technical collaboration, proposal support, and joint program implementation.
“National Human Rights Commission committed continued service-based collaboration to protect victims’ rights.
“This united front marks a significant step towards safeguarding the rights and dignity of children and young girls in Ebonyi State.
“EHWEI, with ISDAO’s support, will continue to lead coordinated community-based action, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy to eradicate underage forced sex work and child trafficking, ensuring a safer and more just society for all.”
