The Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach in Nnewi, Anambra State, Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu, has issued a strong warning against election malpractice ahead of the 2027 presidential election, urging Nigerians to take decisive action to protect the country’s democratic process.
Speaking with journalists at his office, Uzukwu said Nigerians must rise collectively to “redeem the soul of the nation,” lamenting worsening economic hardship and insecurity across the country.
He argued that religious leaders, particularly Christians, should not remain silent in the face of national challenges but instead speak out and advocate for accountability and justice.
According to him, while prayer remains important, citizens must also take responsibility for shaping the nation’s future, stressing that meaningful change requires both civic engagement and active participation in governance.
The cleric expressed frustration over the handling of the 2023 elections, alleging that individuals involved in electoral malpractice were rewarded rather than sanctioned.
He warned that continued tolerance of such practices could undermine public trust and deepen national instability.
Uzukwu also criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the current state of the nation as difficult and calling for significant improvements in governance and security.
He cautioned that rising hardship and public frustration could lead to increased social tension if not urgently addressed.
Call on EU, ECOWAS
On the 2027 elections, the prophet called on the international community—including the European Union and Economic Community of West African States—to support efforts toward ensuring free, fair, and credible polls in Nigeria.
Commenting on the prospects of Peter Obi, Uzukwu said the former presidential candidate needs to strengthen his political structure and strategy to improve his chances in future elections.
He added that Nigeria’s political landscape requires strong grassroots engagement, institutional backing, and strategic alliances for any candidate seeking national leadership.
Uzukwu concluded by urging Nigerians to remain vigilant, participate actively in the democratic process, and demand transparency and accountability from leaders at all levels.
