Meet Professor Frank-Collins Okafor, Anambra’s new Chief of Protocol

Prof. Frank-Collins Nnamdi Okafor, has just been appointed as Chief of Protocol to Anambra State by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

He is an accomplished academic and international relations scholar with extensive experience in university administration and public service.

He is a Professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies in the Department of Political Science at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

His academic qualifications were obtained from the same institution, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Political Science (1994).

He later earned Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Political Science with specialization in International Relations (1998), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Political Science/International Relations and Strategic Studies (2021).

Professionally, Prof. Okafor has built a strong profile as a scholar and policy expert. He is a Fellow of the Tertiary Institutions Social Sciences Association (TISSA) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).

He also serves as an Ambassador of Africa Agenda 2063, reflecting his engagement with continental development initiatives.

His research interests span international relations, migration, peace and conflict studies, and transnational crime.

Academic icon

Within the university system, he has held several key leadership positions.

Notably, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and was previously the Head of the Department of Political Science, reportedly serving multiple terms in that role.

He has also contributed to institutional development as a university orator and participated in accreditation and academic leadership activities.

Beyond academia, Prof. Okafor has been involved in governance and policy advisory roles.

He chaired the Anambra State Committee on the Recovery of Government Lands, demonstrating his integration into state-level administration prior to his current appointment.

With a combination of academic excellence, administrative experience, and active humanitarian engagement through Rotary, Prof. Okafor brings a well-rounded and seasoned perspective to the strategic, diplomatic, and coordination demands of the Chief of Protocol role in Anambra State.
