The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Anambra State, in collaboration with the Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on the appointment of Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the Government of Anambra State.

In a statement in Awka, the groups also extended warm congratulations to Nnake, noting her impactful service as the State Actors’ Co-Chair of OGP Anambra.

The statement signed by Prince Chris Azor, Non-State Actors’ Co-Chair, OGP Anambra State
Chairman, Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), notes that Nnake in that role demonstrated strong leadership, fostering effective collaboration between government and civil society while advancing transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance.

The statement notes that her elevation to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government is both strategic and reassuring, as it creates a vital link between ongoing reform initiatives and the central coordinating structure of government.

“Her experience in OGP processes, fiscal planning, and reform implementation positions her to consolidate and deepen existing gains.

The organisations highlighted Nnake’s track record in public service, particularly her tenure as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she played a key role in resource allocation and development planning.

Her leadership in reform-driven platforms, including ease of doing business and social investment programmes, was also commended as evidence of her commitment to inclusive growth.

They further noted her professional background at PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria and her contributions to the Anambra Vision 2070, describing her as a bridge between long-term strategic planning and practical governance.

Sustaining Co-chair in new office

OGP and ACSONet urged Nnake to sustain her co-chair responsibilities within her new role.

They opined that retaining the function within the SSG’s office would enhance coordination, strengthen institutional ownership, and maintain the momentum of open governance reforms across ministries, departments, and agencies.

Emphasising the importance of continuity in leadership, the groups stated that consistent oversight remains critical to the success of OGP initiatives.

They expressed confidence that her dual experience within government and the OGP framework would enable her to consolidate progress and drive further reforms.

The organisations reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with her office to promote transparency, strengthen public trust, and ensure governance in Anambra remains open, inclusive, and responsive.

They wished Nnake success in her new role and commended Governor Soludo for what they described as a thoughtful and strategic appointment.
