The Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), has encouraged residents of Anambra State who took part in the recently-conducted voters’ registration to go and collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) at the points of registration.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Ugochi Ehiahuruike, SIDEC said collecting the PVCs is the only guarantee that such new registrants will take part in the forthcoming November 8 gubernatorial election in the state.
The five-day collection period commenced on Wednesday at all Registration Areas Ras popularly known as political wards in Anambra State.
The statement noted, “This, which commenced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, afford new registrants who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) or applied for transfers to new polling units, the opportunity to cast their votes for candidates of their choice.
“The PVC is the only instrument that grants citizens the power to exercise their democratic right to vote.
“Anyone who does not have it faces disenfranchisement. This message is more important especially for the youths, women, and persons with disabilities.
To collect the PVCs, SIDEC urges every eligible voter who registered recently or transferred their polling unit to visit the designated INEC collection centers within their Registration Areas (RAs).
“Collecting your PVC is the first step toward shaping the leadership and future you desire. Let no one trade this opportunity for apathy or indifference.”
No collection by proxy
The statement explains that collection of PVCs is strictly in-person, and as INEC will not issue the cards by proxy.
“For those who transferred their polling units, the organization advised them to verify that their cards contain the correct details of their new polling units.
INEC’s recorded a total of 146,353 valid new registrants and transfer applicants during the last CVR, bringing the state’s total number of registered voters to 2,802,790 ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
“Through Project IMPACT, SIDEC continues to mobilize citizens toward active and peaceful participation in the electoral process, while combating disinformation, voter apathy, and vote buying in Anambra State.
It pledges SIDEC’s sustained commitment towards strengthening citizens’ voices and promoting credible, inclusive, and transparent elections through sustained civic education and collaboration with stakeholders, including the media, civil society, and INEC.
SIDEC is implementing Project IMPACT in partnership with the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room with funding support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
