A Nigerian doctor has raised a serious concern about what he describes as a “silent pandemic” — the growing trend of young female students selling their eggs for money.
According to him, many of these young women, particularly those in universities, are flocking to fertility clinics.
He said they are exchanging their eggs for relatively small amounts of money, driven by the country’s worsening economic conditions.
In his words, “Our young women are trading their future children for peanuts because of the economic hardship, and no one seems to be talking about it.”
