Soludo’s Wife charges Nigerians on quality education drive

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has described education as a fundamental right that should never be denied any individual.

Soludo, Founder, Healthy Living initiative, called for collective commitment to making it a top priority in society.

She made the call in a statement on Sunday in Awka to mark the 2026 International Day of Education.

In 2018, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed Jan. 24, as International Day of Education.

This is to celebration the role of education for peace and development and it has the theme – “The Power of Youth in Co-creating Education”.

She said achieving inclusive, equitable and quality education should not be seen as the responsibility of government alone.

“Every segment of society has a role to play in driving meaningful change.

“In Anambra state, education is viewed beyond the confines of the classroom.

“The Solution Administration clearly understands that the quality of education we provide today directly reflects the kind of future we desire for our state,” she said.

15 New Entrepreneurial Subjects into JSS Curriculum

Soludo noted that the government introduced 15 new entrepreneurial subjects into the Junior Secondary School curriculum.

She said it would help equip students with practical skills for self-reliance and future employment.

“The new subjects were designed to align learning with current labour market demands and a deliberate effort to prepare the children for the future

“They include solar installation, garment making, GSM repairs, agriculture and agro-processing, plumbing, tiling, POP installation and event management.

“Others are bakery, hairstyling and make-up, interior design, CCTV and intercom installation, digital literacy, information technology and robotics

“Skills acquisition is a key driver of human capital development in a fast-changing global environment.

“The objective is to ensure that every child in the state acquires relevant skills.

“The skills will enable them to become solution providers and succeed in various fields,” she said

Soludo noted that the commemoration of the International Day of Education should serve as a moment for renewed commitment.

She emphasised the need to build an education system that places learning as a first priority and nurtures it as a dream attainable by every child in the state.
