My administration has empowered 36,300 youths – Soludo

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state on Friday said a total of 36,300 youths have been empowered with different skills by his administration

Soludo made the disclosure at the at the Swearing-In and Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation Programme held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC unity permanent orientation camp

The governor represented by Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha Mba said his administration recognized that the greatest asset of any society remained its people, particularly the youths.

He said, “Guided by Anambra Vision 2070, we are deliberately building a prosperous, inclusive, and smart society where young people are empowered to thrive.

“Through initiatives such as the Solution Innovation District (SID), Code Anambra, One Youth Two Skills Plus, and targeted agribusiness and entrepreneurship schemes, we continue to open doors for skills acquisition, innovation, and wealth creation. 

“23,000 youths have been empowered with digital skills while the ongoing “One Million Anambra Digital Tribe” is targeted at empowering 1 million Anambra Youths with digital skills.

5.5 billion for business start-up

“My administration has also empowered 13,300 youths with skills and grants to the tune of N5.5 billion naira for business start-up and expansion in the first and second phase of 1youth2skills Plus.”

The governor urged the corps members not to be passive observers, but rather immerse themselves in the Anambra experience to learn, create, collaborate and allow the State to shape them as they contribute to its growth.

“Many before you have acquired digital skills, accessed grants, started businesses through these youth empowerment programmes and even chosen Anambra as their long-term home.

“You are as well encouraged to fully participate in these programmes. As you undergo orientation, discipline must remain your watchword.

“Obey camp rules, respect constituted authority, and participate actively in all programmes.

“The values you internalize here will determine your effectiveness during the service year and beyond.

“Be solution-driven, identify challenges within your host communities and apply your knowledge creatively.

Service by impact

He added, “True service is measured not by attendance but by impact.

“We deeply value the partnership between the State Government and the NYSC, particularly in areas of grassroots development, public enlightenment, electoral support, health interventions, and youth mentoring,” he added.

He commended the NYSC leadership at both national and state levels, especially the State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, and her team, for their dedication and professionalism.

Soludo reassured his commitment to continuous improvement of its facilities to ensure a safe, serene, and enabling environment for corps members.

“Dear corps members, remember always that you are ambassadors of your families, institutions, and the Nigerian nation.

“Respect local cultures, promote peace, avoid harmful behaviours, and conduct yourselves with dignity and responsibility.

“Use this period to build friendships, strengthen networks, and broaden your perspectives.

“Let your service year be remembered for character, empathy, and excellence.

“As the great African statesman, Nelson Mandela, once said. “A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”

“Let wisdom guide your decisions, and let integrity anchor your actions.”

1500 posted to Anambra

State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua disclosed that a total of 1500 Prospective Corps Members, comprising 616 males and 884 females successfully registered for the exercise.

She urged them to obey all extant laws, NYSC regulations and security directives, and to conduct themselves as responsible ambassadors of their families, institutions and the nation.

“Discipline remains the cornerstone of the Scheme. Military drills, physical training, and sporting activities will enhance physical fitness, mental alertness, and team spirit.

“The Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme will also equip Corps Members with practical skills for self-reliance beyond the service year.

“All camp officials, security agencies, medical teams, and collaborating partners have been fully mobilized to ensure effective administration, welfare, and security throughout the programme,” she added.

While congratulating the corps members on their deployment, the NYSC boss assured that camp facilities and programmes are fully in place to ensure smooth and impactful orientation experience.

She appreciated State Government for its continued support in infrastructure development, security and youth empowerment, just as she commended NYSC State Governing Board, camp officials, partners, and the media for their dedication.
