3,000 Christian clerics from Anambra State and beyond will converge on Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, on January 15 for a covenant renewal gathering.

The event is organised by clerics under the umbrella of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM).

Participants expected include bishops, pastors, prophets, prophetesses, deacons, deaconesses, and other men and women of God from different denominations.

The Anambra South Senatorial Zone leader of the group, Apostle Akunne Chukwuemeka, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Nnewi.

He said the covenant renewal meeting would be used to thank God for answered prayers and divine mercy.

Chukwuemeka said it’s the clerics’ tradition to appreciate God annually, particularly at moments they consider critical in their spiritual journey.

“We are at the brink of the river to cross over. God has answered our prayers, and it is important that we return all the glory to Him,” Apostle Chukwuemeka said.

Thanksgiving time

He added that the gathering would be a time of thanksgiving, spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to God.

The group believes it is entering a new phase marked by divine intervention and fulfilment of long-held prayers.

The current Administrator of Area 3, Apostle Cyril Ohanebo, said the day would be dedicated to communion with God, thanksgiving, and prayers for the future.

He noted that the clerics would appreciate God and to celebrate “better days ahead”, which have been divinely ordained.

“We believe God has set a time to free His people, just as He delivered the Israelites. This gathering is to acknowledge Him and prepare spiritually for what lies ahead,” Apostle Ohanebo said.

The organisers expressed confidence that the event would be peaceful and spiritually uplifting.

They also called on participants to maintain order and unity throughout the programme.
