Teachers under the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC), Awka Zone, have dismissed as false and malicious recent social media reports alleging that Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the leadership of the Commission maltreat teachers and neglect their welfare.
The teachers, who staged a peaceful rally in Awka on Monday, November 3, 2025, under the banner of Solution SMART Teachers, described the allegations as “fabricated and baseless,” insisting that Governor Soludo remains one of the most education-friendly leaders in Nigeria’s history.
Addressing the crowd before the rally, the Executive Chairman of PPSSC, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, debunked the online claims, reaffirming that the welfare of teachers remains a top priority for both the Commission and the Soludo administration.
She highlighted the governor’s prompt salary payments, improved work environment, and establishment of 22 Smart Schools across the state as visible proofs of his commitment to education.
“We find it unfortunate that some faceless individuals are spreading misinformation to tarnish the image of this administration.
Education redefined
The truth is that Governor Soludo has redefined public education in Anambra through innovation and consistent support to teachers,” she stated.
The rally, which took off from the PPSSC headquarters to the new Government House, attracted teachers from Awka North and South Local Government Areas, who carried placards expressing confidence in the governor’s leadership and calling for his re-election.
Responding, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, commended the teachers for their solidarity, assuring them that the Soludo-led administration remains steadfast in sustaining reforms in education.
“Our teachers are thriving, our students are winning laurels, and the education system is stronger than ever,” he said.
A teacher from Community Secondary School, Umuokpu Awka, Mrs. Scholastica Ijeoma Agbata, described the social media allegations as “cheap propaganda,” stressing that the governor’s administration has prioritized teachers’ welfare, training, and incentives more than any previous government.
Similarly, Mrs. Joy Orenyenworji of Capital City Secondary School, Awka, affirmed that their salaries are paid promptly and that teachers are better motivated than ever before.
“We are beneficiaries of a responsive government. Those spreading lies are enemies of progress,” she said.
Another participant, Anulika Adibe cautioned the public against believing misinformation from unverified online sources, urging citizens to focus on the tangible evidence of the government’s achievements in education.
Other key officials present at the rally included Prof. Naomi Samuel, Deputy Chairman of PPSSC; Mrs. Ann Okafor, the Commission’s Public Relations Officer; as well as zonal board members Dr. Uche Okeke (Awka Zone), Dr. Ngozi Ekwunife (Ogidi Zone), Dr. Ernest Chukwuka (Nnewi Zone), Dr. Bibiana Okoli (Aguata Zone), and Mrs. Bernadine Anagor, Secretary of the Commission.
