Member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Prof Lilian Orogbu has offered scholarships to 34 indigent students of her constituency.
Presenting the scholarships, Orogbu said the award fulfills promise she made to best-performing student from each ward.
She said she had earlier sponsored the JAMB registration fees for 200 aspiring students across the 34 wards of Awka North and South.
According to the lawmaker, she had constructed reconstructed and furnished 13 schools as well as distributed instructional materials to schools across her constituency to support teaching and learning.
She said, “I had the distinct honour of presenting Scholarship Awards to indigent students of Awka North and South Federal Constituency at CANA House, Awka. It was a moment of deep fulfillment and reflection.
“As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Education transforms lives
“As an educationist, I have seen firsthand how education transforms lives, builds character, and uplifts communities.
“This conviction inspired me to sponsor the JAMB registration fees for 200 aspiring students across the 34 wards of Awka North and South.
Today, I am happy to have fulfilled that promise of awarding scholarship to best-performing student from each ward.

She said hard work, education, people’s mandate, and God’s grace have shaped her journey to the National Assembly.
“I believe that public service must be rooted in compassion and impact.
“That is why I have leveraged the instrumentality of the legislature to construct, reconstruct, and furnish 13 schools across Awka North and South.
“In addition, I have distributed instructional materials to schools throughout the constituency to support teaching and learning.
“Watching the joy and gratitude on the faces of these students and their parents, it reminded me of the privilege and responsibility of leadership.
“Indeed, God has shown me favour, and I remain committed to giving my very best in service to our people.
“From chalk to chamber, my journey continues. And I’m just getting started.”
