Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, says competence remains the sole criterion for appointments in his administration, regardless of religious, ethnic or social considerations.
Soludo stated this on Sunday while addressing the Anglican Diocesan Synod held at Ezira in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.
The governor said his administration was committed to merit-based governance and would continue to engage individuals capable of delivering results in public service.
“For me, it is about the value proposition you bring to the table. Most of the people I have appointed are chosen because they can get the job done.
“Whoever can get the job done is the person I will hire,” he said.
Soludo, Governor for All
Soludo also reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, declaring that he remained governor to all residents of Anambra irrespective of their religious or traditional affiliations.
“I am the Governor of all denominations, Christians, Moslems and traditionalists. Everyone has the freedom of worship in Anambra.
” We are all one and we must celebrate our common humanity,” he said.
The governor thanked residents for their support during the last governorship election, noting that his mandate transcended sectarian and denominational boundaries.
He warned against growing divisions across the world and urged citizens to place greater value on their shared humanity.

According to him, humanity is currently facing significant threats, while increasing fragmentation, including within Christendom, poses challenges to peaceful co-existence and development.
Soludo appealed to residents to remain patient with his administration as it continued to implement its development agenda.
He also commended the Anglican Church for establishing a nursing school in Isulo, describing investments in education and healthcare as critical to sustainable development.
“We are building our own institutions, but I encourage you to invest more in education and health. It can never be enough,” he said.
Earlier, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, commended Soludo for ongoing developmental projects across the state and appealed for continued government support.
Ezeofor assured the governor of the church’s prayers and support for the success of his administration.
