Traditional Ruler of Abba Community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Leonard Nwachukwu Ezeh has received certificate of recognition from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for his outstanding services to humanity.

South-East Zonal Director of the agency, Mrs. Theresa Maduekwe who presented the certificate to the monarch said the bhonor was also in recognition of all his seasons assistance to implementation of orientation, mobilization and sensitization programmes of the agency in the state.

“This honour is to appreciate Igwe Ezeh in a very special way for his unrelenting community and human capital developmental projects in the community.

She acknowledged that the services of Traditional Rulers are highly needed in all-round implementation of the Agency’s sensitization, mobilization and orientation programmes in the State.

The Zonal Director charged people of the state and the Southeast at large to embrace virtues capable of attracting development in the area.

She called on the monarchs to join forces with the agency in its campaign for PVC registration.

Maduekwe, even as she stressed the need for the people to obtain their voters cards, keep them intact and come out enmass on the election day to vote their choice at the poll.

While urging the people to say no to politics of bitterness, election violence and snatching of ballot boxes come 2027 general elections, Maduekwe advised the women of the community to place measures capable of dissuading their youths from engaging in cybercrimes, 419, drug abuse and other social vices that can mar their brighter future.

Collaboration against youth restiveness

She advocated collaborative efforts in the fight against youths restiveness in the country, regretting that drug abuse had driven so many youths of the country to mental illness.

Responding, Igwe Ezeh thanked NOA for the honour done him, describing it as a great feat which would spur him to do more to his community and NOA.

He pointed out that it gladdened his heart when the people recognize his little contributions to the society.

“34 young people in tertiary institutions across Nigeria drawn from less-privileged homes in Abba community had benefited from my scholarship scheme.

“This honour would spur him to do more for Abba Community and the agency.

The monarch who marked 49 years on the throne said he would celebrate his 50 years anniversary as a traditional ruler by next year.

The royal father, who is the most elderly traditional ruler in Njikoka LGA is also the Chairman, Traditional Rulers’ Council of the LGA.

He described the honour done him by NOA as a great feat, saying it would spur him to do more for his community

NELFUND advocacy

State Director, NOA, Barrister Lady Ifeoma Chijioke urged people of the community, especially those in the tertiary institutions across Nigeria to access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme of the federal government.

Chijioke, regretted that many undergraduates in the community and the State were ignorant of the fund.

She pleaded with the monarch to grant the agency at least one day to address Abba General Assembly on importance of the NELFUND to ensure their students benefitted like their counterparts from other parts of the country.
