The Anambra State Government has unveiled plans to deepen digital innovation and create thousands of technology-driven jobs through the Solution Innovation District (SID), as several Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms prepare to establish operations in the state.
Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation and Chief Executive Officer, SID, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, disclosed this in Awka.
She said the initiative is a key component of the governor’s second-term development agenda to position Anambra as a leading technology and innovation hub in Africa.
Okoli said the next phase of SID will focus on expanding digital infrastructure, supporting startups, strengthening the innovation ecosystem, and fully activating the district to unlock more opportunities in the digital economy.
According to her, SID has already laid a strong foundation for digital transformation and talent development across the state, with the government now concentrating on scaling its impact and translating digital skills into sustainable employment opportunities.
She revealed that a number of Business Process Outsourcing firms have expressed interest in setting up operations in Anambra, attracted by the growing pool of digitally skilled youths trained through the state’s technology and innovation programmes.
The firms, she explained, are expected to recruit young professionals for global service delivery, customer support, software-related services, and other digital economy roles, opening up new employment opportunities for thousands of residents.
Okoli noted that the influx of BPO companies would not only create jobs but also stimulate economic growth, attract investment, encourage innovation, and strengthen Anambra’s competitiveness in the global digital marketplace.
New SID facility
She further disclosed that preparations are underway to fully operationalise the new SID facility as a strategic hub for attracting technology companies, startups, and outsourcing firms.
The facility, she said, will also enhance job-matching mechanisms designed to connect trained youths with international employment opportunities.

Expressing optimism about the future of the initiative, Okoli said SID would play a pivotal role in tackling unemployment through digital skills development, private-sector collaboration, and targeted job placement programmes.
She added that the initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of building a knowledge-driven economy and empowering young people with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
“With sustained investment in innovation, talent development and strategic partnerships, SID will continue to drive economic transformation and position Anambra as a premier destination for technology, entrepreneurship and digital jobs in Africa,” she said.
