NSCDC officer bags award, pledges examplary leadership role

A Superintendent of Corps, SC officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bayelsa State Command, Anthony Idigo has pledged to redouble his efforts and improve his service delivery.

Idigo made the remarks after receiving a prestigious international leadership award from the Chaterred Institute of Marine, Port and Terminal Management Professionals, USA.

The award presented by Mr. Patrick Mark, the Regional Director of Training for the Chartered Institute in Nigeria, during a ceremony held at BW Star fire Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on March 28 was also celebrated at Ekeremor in Bayelsa state.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Idigo pledged to re-double his efforts as well as continue to play examplary leadership roles as an officer of the corps.

Addressed traditionally ‘Asiakpo Nnu Anam’, Idigo also pledged to fly the Nigerian flag higher at the International levels.

“I feel blessed that a nobody like me had been recognized by this great institute.

Meaning of honour

“What this honour means is that I have to work harder and show more commitments and dedication to my duties as an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The awardee paid special tribute to his commanders and other colleagues whose support had guided him thus far in his career.

“Finally, I return all glory to God Almighty for this award and dedicate it to my wife, Chief Mrs. Iyom Carol Mma Iyke Idigo, for her unshakeable supporting roles in my career, life and family.

“I pray for God’s more blessings, protections and graces to her and our family in Jesus Christ Name, Amen”, Idido said.

Earlier, Director Training, Mr Mark described Idigo as long time friend and colleague in the Chartered Institute who had distinguished himself in his chosen  career as an NSCDC officer.

“Idigo is a dedicated, tested and trusted professional. He is a leader that needs to be motivated by this kind of award to enable him do more,” he added.
