Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association has announced its plans to hold its Alumni’s 40th Anniversary.
National President, Nze Henry Nnebe and Chairman, Board of Trustees, of the Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni, Victor Orji who disclosed this in a statement in Awka, said plans were on to celebrate the Anniversary with series of high-profile events scheduled for last quarter of the year.
According to the statement, the celebration, themed “FPO Alumni @ 40: Excellence in Technology and Innovation,” is designed to highlight four decades of impact, achievements and contributions of the Association to the growth and development of Federal Polytechnic Oko and society at large.
“A key feature of the anniversary will be Alumni Lectures themed, “Four Decades of Excellence: Rooted in Heritage, Advancing Knowledge through Innovation and Technology.”
“The three-day event will feature a blend of intellectual, social, and commemorative activities.
“Day One: Activities will commence with a novelty football match between the Federal Polytechnic Oko team and a yet-to-be-confirmed sister Polytechnic.
“The day will conclude with a grand Gala Night, where outstanding individuals will be honoured as “Stars of the Polytechnic.”
The journey so far
“On day two, the core celebration will include an Anniversary Lecture, alongside the presentation, publication, and official launch of a commemorative work titled “The Journey So Far.”
“A major highlight will be the mounting of portraits in honour of the Heroes and Ambassadors of the Polytechnic in the Hall of Fame of the Alumni Museum, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the institution’s legacy.
“Day Three: The celebration will conclude with an Interdenominational Thanksgiving/Outing Service, reflecting on the Association’s journey and seeking continued progress in the years ahead.
“The Alumni Association called for support and collaboration from stakeholders, partners and the entire Polytechnic community to support and actively participate in the celebration.
“The event is expected to serve as a platform for strengthening institutional ties, preserving heritage, and promoting innovation-driven development,” the statement reads in part.
While emphasising on the significance of the milestone, the Alumni leadership described the anniversary as not only a celebration of the past but also a forward-looking initiative aimed at advancing excellence in technology and innovation.
“Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association is committed to fostering unity among graduates, supporting the development of the Polytechnic and contributing meaningfully to national growth through innovation, knowledge sharing, and strategic engagement,” the statement added.
