NUT warns states on delay in N70,000 minimum wage

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has warned state governments yet to implement the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage to do so without further delay or risk industrial action nationwide.

The union gave the warning in a statement on Tuesday, expressing concern over the slow pace of compliance by some states.

It said the continued delay in implementing the new wage could lead to a nationwide confrontation, as teachers would not hesitate to demand their rights.

The NUT urged the affected state governments to act promptly in order to avert disruption in the education sector.

It reiterated its commitment to protecting the welfare of teachers and ensuring full implementation of approved policies.
