Gov. Alex Otti of Abia says his administration is working towards detaching the state from the national grid as part of efforts to ensure stable and independent electricity supply.
Otti disclosed this while addressing stakeholders, noting that his Commissioner for Power is currently in the Netherlands negotiating partnerships to actualise the vision.
He said the move was aimed at providing reliable power to residents and businesses, boosting economic activities and improving living standards in the state.
According to him, the initiative is part of broader reforms in the power sector to reposition Abia for industrial growth and development.
The governor expressed optimism that the ongoing discussions in the Netherlands would yield positive outcomes that would accelerate the state’s energy independence agenda.
Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for investors.
