The Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC) has commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for what it described as a bold and commendable demonstration of commitment to women’s empowerment, following the appointment of Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the Anambra State Government.

In a congratulatory message, signed by its Executive Director, Ugochi Ehiahuruike, SIDEC noted that the appointment—coming as the first major decision after the Governor’s swearing-in for a second term—sends a strong signal about the administration’s priorities, particularly in promoting gender inclusion and recognizing competence among women in leadership.

The organisation praised the choice of Nnake, describing her as a tested technocrat who has, over the years, built a solid track record within the private and public sectors.

It highlighted her immediate past role as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she played a strategic role in shaping fiscal policies, coordinating development priorities, and driving reforms aimed at sustainable growth.

SIDEC further noted that Nnake’s previous responsibilities as Chairman of Solution Fun City Limited, her leadership roles across key state boards, and her position as a reform champion for ease of doing business have equipped her with deep insight into the workings of government.

“Her involvement in social investment programmes and her contributions to long-term development frameworks such as the Anambra Vision 2070 are indicators of her capacity to deliver in her new role.

This appointment as Secretary to the State Government is not only well-deserved but also a strategic as it will strengthen policy coordination and deepen governance reforms in the state.

Progressive governance style

The group stressed that Governor Soludo’s decision reflects a progressive governance style that values merit, experience, and inclusivity, especially at a time when there is increasing demand for greater representation of women in decision-making positions.

“We are confident that Nnake will bring her wealth of experience, professionalism, and reform-driven mindset to bear in the discharge of her duties, while also serving as an inspiration to women across Anambra State and beyond.

The organisation congratulated both the Governor and the new SSG, urging continued commitment to inclusive governance, institutional strengthening, and people-oriented development.
