The Osun State Police Command has arrested two officers of the Nigeria Customs Service in Osogbo, the state capital, following the death of an unidentified man allegedly shot on Tuesday evening in the Dada Estate area.

The suspects, identified as Kolawole Suuti and Danjuma Samuel, were reportedly pursuing drivers of suspected “Tokunbo” (foreign-used) vehicles when the incident occurred.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrest, stating that police operatives swiftly responded to the report and apprehended the officers.

Ojelabi explained that the driver of one of the vehicles—an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla—being chased by the Customs operatives was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital.

His body has since been deposited at the morgue.

He added that the case has been reported to the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Ibrahim Gotan, who has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police spokesperson assured the public that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

He also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to support ongoing investigations.

Items recovered from the scene include a Beretta pistol with breech number 125024, 11 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, an expended 9mm shell, a white Toyota Corolla with registration number AAA 400 GQ (Lagos), and an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with registration number GFQ 0982 (Texas).
