Rtrd Asst. Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Anambra State Command, Uzoamaka Ozougwu, has expressed gratitude to her family for their support throughout her 35 years of service.
She also thanked her colleagues at the Command for their cooperation and encouragement during her long career.
Speaking during a retirement ceremony organised at the Command Headquarters in her honour, Ozougwu said the support she received at home made her long service seamless and less stressful.
She added that the encouragement and cooperation from her colleagues at the office also played a major role in making her career smooth.
According to her, the Command is a “home away from home” and she appreciate her colleagues for their cooperation in making her work easier.
“I thank the Comptroller, the management, and all my colleagues.
“I appreciate the love we shared and the sacrifices you made because of me. Without you, I wouldn’t have performed. Your cooperation was top-notch,” she said.
Ozougwu promised to remain available to her colleagues even after retirement.
She also expressed deep gratitude to her family, particularly her husband and children, for their unwavering support, saying it made her 35 years of service feel like “35 seconds.”

Enlisted into the NIS in 1991 as a Senior Immigration Assistant at the Enugu State Command, Ozougwu advised officers to maintain joy in their work despite its demanding nature.
“Be joyful always because the job entails a lot. You can just be resting and a circular will come to move you.
“But allowing the peace and joy of the Lord to control your emotions keeps you ready for anything,” she said.
Speaking at the event, some officers described her as hardworking, unassuming, and accessible.
They said she would be greatly missed and prayed for God’s blessings, long life, and good health in her future endeavors.
The ceremony, attended by family members and colleagues, featured a birthday cake cutting in celebration of Ozougwu’s 54th birthday and presentation of gifts.
