Zero Discrimination Day: Mrs Soludo urges respect for human dignity

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called on Nigerians to treat one another with dignity and respect, irrespective of differences in beliefs, class, creed or physical condition.

Soludo, who is also the Founder of Healthy Living Initiative, made the call on Sunday in Awka to commemorate the 2026 Zero Discrimination Day, marked every March 1.

Zero Discrimination Day is marked to promote equality before the law and is practiced throughout all of the member countries of the United Nations

She said that true love should transcend all forms of discrimination and prejudice in society.

“True love sees no differences, only hearts filled with compassion and genuine desire to make others feel loved, valued and respected. Respect is the soul of human dignity.

“Discrimination, on the other hand, is a language of barbarism and hate,” she said.

Soludo urged citizens to always uphold the values of empathy, compassion and inclusiveness in their daily interactions.

“Do the best you can to always treat people with dignity, irrespective of their beliefs, class, creed or physical conditions. That’s one way to make our society a better place for all of us,” she said.

She stressed the need for collective efforts in building a society anchored on love, equality and mutual respect.
