Group urges collective action in tackling drug abuse crisis

A group, Adorable Foundation International (AFI), subsidiary of Afri Tours has called for collective action in tackling drug abuse crisis in the country.

President and Founder, Princess Ada Okeke Anam who made the call in a press briefing emphasized the vital role of youths in combating drug abuse across higher institutions.

She also stressed the need for prevention, early intervention and holistic approach particularly in reaching youths.

Acknowledging strategic influence of awareness creation through Queen ASACADA initiative, Anam noted that her project had recorded remarkable progress in the fight against drug abuse over the years.

Earlier, National Coordinator, Afri Tours, ken Chidi disclosed the conclusion of arrangements by the group to host A Societal Awareness Campaign Against Drug Abuse (ASACADA) 2026.

While unveiling forms for the event holding on June 26 at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, Chidi noted that interested persons could access online or physical copies of the forms at the cost N10,000.

Eligibility criteria

He said young girls between 18-30 years, must be students in higher institution of learning are eligible to contest for the next Queen ASACADA.

“We officially announce the commencement of activities leading to the selection of the next Queen ASACADA.

“We are opening the platform to interested young women who are willing to represent this cause and contribute meaningfully to the campaign against drug abuse,” he added.

Contributing, the reigning ASACADA Queen, Miss Divine Innocent called on stakeholders to always remain committed to the campaign to build safer, drug free society.

“We have also visited hospitals, engaging patients and medical professionals to highlight the health consequences of drug abuse and the importance of early intervention.

“In addition, I initiated the PAD for purpose project, which focused on secondary school outreach, where we distributed sanitary pads and educated young girls on menstrual hygiene,” she noted.

Queen Tourism, Miss Chidiebude Akpuka, noted that the platform remains focused on awareness, prevention and youth engagement as the ASACADA initiative required continuity.
